Journalist Trying To Cover Antifa Protest Gets Ran Down, Attacked By Its Members

A new video from a journalist in Portland provides a shocking first-hand account of his interaction with Antifa and law enforcement’s decision not to intervene with their violent tactics.

BizPac Review reports the journalist, who was only identified as “a member of Stumptown Matters,” an independent group that documents “protests, rallies and other public events” in Portland, shared his experience in a YouTube video uploaded late on Saturday.

In the description of the video, the journalist describes how he visited the area “to film and document the protest of a KKK rally that was reported to take place that day.”

“When I arrived at the scene, I learned that the KKK canceled their event. I despise the KKK and racism in general. I was actually looking forward to siding with Antifa on this day. For they had real and legit racists to confront had the KKK followed through with their initial plans. So ultimately I stood across the street from the Antifa Gathering and gazed upon them just to estimate the number of their turnout,” he wrote.

“I was planning on leaving and I hadn’t even begun filming yet. Then Luis Marquez called me out by name. I said hello and then I raised my camera to start filming the commotion,” the journalist continued.

“Then a masked group of 20 or more people began to spread out and cross the street from where Luis was standing and began to walk fast toward me. They had concealed objects or weapons in their hands, one of which was approaching me while shaking a can of pepper spray,” he wrote, all of which is caught on the uploaded camera footage.

CAUTION: The video features several instances of the journalists and the Antifa members using crude and obscene expressions, including the use of profanity.

BizPac Review reports the journalist then looked for law enforcement officials at the scene to help him from the aggressive Antifa members, but he was turned away:

Once the journalist reached the Multnomah County Justice Center, a riot police officer confronted him and told him he’d be on his own if he ventured back out onto the public streets …

“We’re not going to run out here and save you,” the officer said. “You know what I mean? I’m just telling you, that ain’t gonna happen again, so you better go probably find something else, ok? We’re not going to be helpers for you.”

As previously noted, Antifa showed up in downtown Portland to protest the Ku Klux Klan. But after the KKK failed to show, the left-wing terrorists turned their ire and animosity on not only journalists but the police as well.
