Trump: ‘Consideration Is Being Given To Declaring ANTIFA… A Major Organization of Terror’

On Saturday afternoon, President Trump confirmed that his administration was considering whether or not to identify or designate ANTIFA as a terror organization.

Antifa, a violent group which alleges to be anti-fascist, has been responsible for several physical attacks on conservatives and journalist covering their riots. The group most recently was responsible for the brutal assault and hospitalization of conservative American journalist Andy Ngo.

“I was in fear of my life,” Ngo said following his attack while covering a street protest in Portland.

“Consideration is being given to declaring ANTIFA, the gutless Radical Left Wack Jobs who go around hitting (only non-fighters) people over the heads with baseball bats, a major Organization of Terror (along with MS-13 & others),” Trump said in a tweet. “Would make it easier for police to do their job!”

The Washington Examiner report Republican Senator Ted Cruz previously penned a letter to Attorney General William Barr requesting Antifa be designated as a terrorist group. Earlier this week, Cruz also called for an investigation into the group.

From the report:

At a Senate hearing last week, Texas Republican asked Wray if he could investigate antifa under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, which is designed to target organized crime in the U.S.

Wray said the FBI views Antifa as more of an ideology and noted the bureau does not investigate ideology. But he stressed that the FBI takes violence on behalf of any ideology seriously and has a number of smaller-scale inquiries underway. “We have a quite a number though, I should tell you, of properly predicated investigations of what we categorize as anarchist extremists. People who are trying to commit violent criminal activity that violates federal criminal law and some of those people do subscribe as what we would refer to as a kind of an Antifa-like ideology,” Wray told Cruz.

Fox News has more on Ngo and his assault:

“They’re working toward a political revolution,” Andy Ngo said on Fox News’ “The Ingraham Angle.” “They’re made up of anarchists and communists and … these acts of violence and vandalism … not only target citizens but they’re meant to polarize society.”

Ngo told host Laura Ingraham he was startled when the protesters in Portland first assaulted him.

“I didn’t even know what was going,” he said. “It took several hits to my head before I realized, ‘Oh, I’m getting beaten up right now,’ because I’ve never been in a fight.”

And, per

The Portland Police Bureau have said three people were arrested in connection with the violent clashes that left Ngo and two other people hospitalized.

Following the incident, Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler (D) said in a series of tweets that the city stands “against all forms of violence – regardless of someone’s political leanings.”

But Ngo, who has demanded that Portland police take more action, expressed dismay Thursday that none of his alleged attackers have been arrested or held accountable.

“In a functioning liberal Democracy, we cannot normalize political violence,” he said.

Conservatives and liberals came to Ngo’s defense after the protests.
