Pelosi Calls Trump’s New Immigration Plan ‘An Act of Utter Malice and Bigotry’

While President Trump is busy trying to secure the border and make the country safe from potential bad actors crossing the southern border, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is resisting him at every turn.

Pelosi has not lifted a finger to help him legislatively. She has refused to provide funding to construct a new border wall, increase the number of troops stationed at the southern border, increase the facilities used to detain migrants or increase the number of judges needed to try the asylum cases.

Instead, in the face of Trump’s new plan to “deport millions” of migrants from the country, Pelosi wants him to “walk away.”

“The President’s new threat of a mass deportation dragnet is an act of utter malice and bigotry, designed solely to inject fear in our communities,” Pelosi said via the Washington Examiner.

“The President must walk away from these cruel, ineffective and discriminatory policies, and work with Democrats to support smart, effective immigration reform that honors our values and keeps families together and safe,” she added.

Here’s more from the Washington Examiner:

Trump’s plan to deport illegal immigrants follows a massive surge of illegal immigration along the southern border.

Most of the migrants traveled through Mexico from Central American countries.

Pelosi accused Trump of “sabotaging … good-faith, constructive and bipartisan efforts in Congress to address the root causes of the situation” with legislation that would provide more humanitarian aid to Central America.

Democrats and Republicans this week will attempt to work out a compromise deal on $4.5 billion in emergency funding Trump has requested to deal with the illegal immigrant surge, which has topped 100,000 apprehensions per month.
