Joe Biden wants to take on President Trump in 2020 but has stumbled out of the gates, despite consistently polling at the top of a 20+ pool of Democratic candidates.
His series of blunders have come in the form of having to deal with (and often fumbling) past, more moderate policy positions and justifying them in a far-Left, far more socialistic Democrat Party. Its new ideology has proven difficult navigational waters for Biden, who has been wrought with campaign missteps and “flip-flops galore,” CNN’s SE Cupp reported.
“First there was the news that the Biden campaign had populated some of its climate change proposal by lifting freezes from think tanks. All that did, of course, was resurrect old charges of plagiarism that he likely hoped he long put to bed,” Cupp said during a CNN segment on Saturday.
“Then there was his campaign aide’s awkward attempt to explain a 1987 gaffe where… he claimed he marched in the Civil Rights Movement. He most certainly did not,” the CNN host said.
“Finally, the two-step that was more like a three-step on the Hyde Amendment—the 1976 measure prohibiting federal funding for abortion, except in the case of rape, incest, and endangering the life of the mother. Here’s how that went,” she continued. “Back in May, he was asked he would appeal the amendment. He said he would. On Wednesday, after that video resurfaced, his campaign backtracked, saying he misheard the question and still supports the measure. Facing backlash from his Democratic challengers and progressive activists, by Thursday he flipped yet again announcing during a speech in Atlanta that he no longer backs the amendment.”
Now, as Breitbart reports, Biden faces a new fallout with a newly dug up video from 2012 where Biden said: “Life begins at conception.”
Breitbart reports the video emerged amid the fallout from his Hyde Amendment debacle.
“For many years as U.S. Senator, I have supported the Hyde Amendment like many, many others have,” Biden told the IWillVote Gala crowd on Thursday.
“I’ve been struggling with the problems that Hyde now presents,” he continued. “I want to be clear: I make no apologies for my last position. I make no apologies for what I’m about to say.”
“If I believe that health care is a right, as I do, I can no longer support that amendment dependent that makes that right dependent on someone’s zip code,” he claimed.
And, from Breitbart:
Kellyanne Conway, senior counselor to the president, went after “Floppy Joe” on Twitter, questioning his stance on partial-birth abortion.
“Following Biden’s flip-flop flop on Hyde Amendment, wonder if he stands by his vote to ban partial-birth abortions while in Senate,” she tweeted.
Conway also tweeted a clip of “2012 Biden” affirming the belief that “life begins at conception.”
“My religion defines who I am. I’ve been a practicing Catholic my whole life,” Biden said during the October 2012 debate. “Regard to abortion, I accept my church’s position on abortion as a de fide doctrine. Life begins at conception. That’s the church’s judgment. I accept it in my personal life.”
“I just refuse to impose that [view] on others,” he added.
“Following his flip-flop flop on Hyde Amendment, wonder if Joe Biden 2019 agrees with Joe Biden 2012,” Conway asked.
