‘I Had A Conversation Like Every President Does’: Trump Pushes Back On New Putin Rumors

President Trump is pushing back on the latest “evidence” of Russian collusion after it was reported that he met one-on-one with Putin for two hours in Helsinki last year.

“President Donald Trump says he may release details of the conversations he had with Russian president Vladimir Putin because he has nothing to hide. Trump made the remark in response to media hysteria that he’s trying to hide the content of his chats with Putin,” BizPac Review reports.

And, via Politico:

The president’s remarks came hours after a report by The Washington Post stating that Trump “has gone to extraordinary lengths to conceal details” of his talks with Putin. The Post also reported that there is no detailed record of Trump’s interactions with Putin at five locations over the past two years, according to U.S. officials.

The president referred to his roughly two-hour dialogue with Putin in Helsinki — at which only the leaders and their translators were present — as “a great conversation” that included discussions about “securing Israel and lots of other things.”

Trump pushed back on the hysteria and said his conversation was similar to one that he would have with any other head of state or world leader.

“I had a conversation like every president does,” Trump said to Fox News host Judge Jeanine Pirro on Saturday, via Politico. “You sit with the president of various countries. I do it with all countries.”

Trump said during the phone interview that he would not mind if the contents of the phone interview were publically shared.

“I would [release details], I don’t with care,” Trump continued, via BizPac Review.

“We were talking about Israel and lots of other things. And it was a great conversation,” the president added.

“I’m not keeping anything under wraps, I couldn’t care less. It’s so ridiculous. These people make things up,” Trump exclaimed via BizPac Review.

The president pushed back on the Washington Post report as biased political reporting.

“The Washington Post is basically the lobbyist for Amazon,” Trump said. “[Jeff] Bezos uses that as his lobbyist as far as I’m concerned. But Bezos has got bigger problems than anybody right now.”

Trump was referencing a divorce fight Bezos is currently undergoing where he may have to surrender half of his $137 billion fortune.

The president continued per the report:

Think of it: I have a one-on-one meeting with Putin like I do with every other leader. I have many one-on-one — nobody ever says anything about it.

But with Putin they say, ‘Oh, what did they talk about?’ We talked about very positive things because, look, we are beating everybody. Our economy is the strongest in the world right now. Nobody even close. China’s down 38 president. Russia’s not doing well, its economy.

The US is doing phenomenally. Even though we’re paying interest rates because we’re normalizing, you know? Obama had zero or interest. Anybody can do that. And our economy’s now better than ever. We’re almost at our high with the stock market again.

I met with every leader just about individually. I meet with Modi, I meet with, in Japan I meet with Abe, I meet with all of them, but nobody says anything. But I meet with Putin, and they make a big deal.
