Wait a second, aren’t Democrats the ones resisting President Trump and fighting his every attempt to secure the border?
Why is it that people continue to find videos of top Democrats advocating border security years ago, but have somehow flipped their position entirely under Trump?
A video of Senate Democrat Leader Chuck Schumer previously advocating against illegal immigration and for border security was dug up amid the shutdown negotiations and the border debate:
Chuck Schumer in 2009:
-Americans don't like illegal immigration
-"Illegal immigration is wrong"-People illegally in the U.S. are "illegal aliens," not "undocumented"
-Border fence made the southern border "far more secure…created a significant barrier to illegal immigration" pic.twitter.com/zoVyEgdrTC

Schumer is far from the only Democrat who previously supported increased border security.
Via the Western Journal:
On issues like immigration and border security, it would be one thing if the left had a consistent message. They still might be wrong, but at least you could give them credit for steadfastly believing in their principles.
Instead, the opposite is true. Far from having a consistent stance on immigration, the very same Democrats who are now cheering for open borders and pretending that illegal immigration isn’t a crisis had a very, very different message not so long ago.
Here’s a perfect example. In a video that goes back to 1994, none other than Dianne Feinstein — yes, the Democratic senator who is now implying that enforcing the border is racist — spoke out about the issue, and sounded downright Trump-like.
“We can enforce our borders. I think we should enforce our borders,” Feinstein said in the video.
“To have a situation where 40 percent of the babies born on Medicaid in California today are born of illegal immigrants, creates a very real problem for the state,” the California Democrat continued. “Which is in deficit.”
The congresswoman added, “To have 17 percent of our prison population, at a cost of $300 million a year, be illegal immigrants who come here and commit felonies? That’s not what this nation is all about.”
Check it out:
Hello @SenFeinstein you are absolutely correct, having illegal immigrants come here and commit felonies is NOT what this Nation is about, you must be outraged that @GavinNewsom now has California paying for 100% of their healthcare. As the Washington Post op-ed reads, “Democrats were for a wall before they were against it.”
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate Democrat Leader Chuck Schumer, Democrat veteran in the Senate Dick Durbin have each advocated for increased border security well before they ever argued against it, the Washington Post op-ed reports.
Check it out:
on Saturday the current government shutdown will become the longest in American history. But it has already hit another historic milestone: It is, by far and away, the stupidest government shutdown in American history.
In 2019, the federal government will spend a whopping $4.407 trillion. Yet Congress and the president are shutting down the government in a dispute between the $1.3 billion the Democrats have approved for border security and the $5.7 billion the president is demanding — the difference being precisely 0.0998 percent of the total federal budget. In Washington, that is considered a rounding error.
Worse, Democrats are doing it over a border wall strikingly similar to one that they almost unanimously supported just five years ago. While House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) now says that “a wall is an immorality,” back in 2013, she supported a bill that required the construction of 700 miles of border fencing. (Trump has calledfor a wall of “anywhere from 700 to 900 miles” long.) The bill negotiated by the Gang of Eight, which included current Democratic leaders Sens. Charles E. Schumer (N.Y.) and Richard J. Durbin (Ill.), declared that “not later than 180 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary [of Homeland Security] shall establish . . . the ‘Southern Border Fencing Strategy,’ to identify where 700 miles of fencing (including double-layer fencing) . . . should be deployed along the Southern border.”
According to the report, every single Democrat Senator voted in favor of the Gang of Eight bill.
Every single Democrat.
And, this includes 36 Democratic members who are still in the Senate today.
Former President Obama, who was in the Senate and voted for the bill, argued it was “the most aggressive border security plan in our history” and said, “the Senate bill is consistent with the key principles for commonsense reform that I — and many others — have repeatedly laid out.”
Check out these quotes on border security from Schumer, Obama and former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, via Fox News Insider:
“Illegal Immigration is wrong, plain and simple. Until the American people are convinced we will stop future flows of illegal immigration, we will make no progress.” – Schumer, 2009
“We simply cannot allow people to pour into the United States undetected, undocumented and unchecked” – Obama, 2005
“I voted numerous times when I was a senator to spend money to build a barrier to try to prevent illegal immigrants from coming in. And I do think you have to control your borders.” – Clinton, 2015
