Wait, What? CNN’s Cooper Reports Trump Hijacked His Own Press Conference

CNN anchor Anderson Cooper has accused President Trump of “hijacking” his own daily press briefing.

During a segment of “Anderson Cooper 360°,” the host said the president was using the daily briefings like a campaign rally.

Cooper said the “hijacking of the task force press conference by a President determined to rewrite the history of his early and reprehensibly irresponsible response” was “not normal.”

“It matters because this is life or death,” the host continued.

“What the president showed us today is what the nation’s top scientists have to deal with every day,” Cooper added per the Huffington Post, accusing Trump of engineering the briefing to be a “reelection platform” and “an opportunity to lie, to deflect, to attack, to bully and cover up his own deadly dismissals of the virus for crucial weeks.”

As the Washington Examiner reports, Cooper went on to complain that the Trump administration did not have details or a timeline on when they would be able to give out more personal protective equipment.

“Nobody can give you a clear answer on, ‘OK, fine, we think there aren’t enough masks. By this date, there’s going to be this number of masks … of face shields available,’” Cooper said during the Monday night segment. “Where’s the timeline? Where’s the schedule?”

The Republican National Committee’s rapid response director Steve Guest quickly responded, saying Cooper was lying to his viewers. Guest provided plenty of evidence to show that the Trump administration has already provided this information.

“CNN’s Anderson Cooper claims no timeline for PPE has been provided after CNN refused to air press conferences during which military officers provided a timeline for PPE,” Guest tweeted.
