Trump’s Tweet To Iranian Protesters Becomes ‘The Most Liked Persian Tweet’ In History

President Trump’s recent show of support to a group of protestors in Iran has now become a record, the Washington Examiner reports.

On Saturday, President Trump posted a pair of tweets in the Iranian protestors’ own native language, encouraging them in their efforts against Iranian Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

“To the brave, long-suffering people of Iran: I’ve stood with you since the beginning of my Presidency, and my Administration will continue to stand with you,” Trump tweeted in both English and Farsi. “We are following your protests closely, and are inspired by your courage.”

The Washington Examiner reports Trump’s Farsi tweet quickly earned over 200,000 likes, making it the “most liked Persian tweet” ever.

The tweet has since garnered a total of 359,300 likes and more than 85,800 retweets.

From the report:

After just one hour, the tweet had received over 100,000 likes and has since more than doubled that number.

“This tweet by @realDonaldTrump with more than 100k likes is already the most liked Persian tweet in the history of Twitter,” Saeed Ghasseminejad, senior adviser and financial economist at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, claimed. “A strong show of support by Iranians for Trump’s Iran policy, something the MSM does not and will not report.”

FDD is a policy institute based in Washington, D.C., that focuses on national security and foreign policy. Described as hawkish, the group is highly critical of Tehran’s theocratic regime, and its members advise the Trump administration on its Iran policy.

In another series of tweets, Trump quickly warned the Iranian government not to act hostile to the protestors as “the world is watching.”

“The government of Iran must allow human rights groups to monitor and report facts from the ground on the ongoing protests by the Iranian people,” he said. “There can not be another massacre of peaceful protesters, nor an internet shutdown. The world is watching.”

In yet another tweet, President Trump doubled down on his directive for the Iranian leaders not to harm those protesting: “To the leaders of Iran – DO NOT KILL YOUR PROTESTERS.”

“Thousands have already been killed or imprisoned by you, and the World is watching. More importantly, the USA is watching. Turn your internet back on and let reporters roam free! Stop the killing of your great Iranian people!” he added.
