A court has ruled against a 45-year-old man who claims to be an eight-year-old girl trapped in an older man’s body.
Joseph Gobrick, a 45-year-old male sex offender in Grand Rapids, Michigan, was arrested for being in possession of child pornography, something he claims is a right protected by the First Amendment.
During the court hearing, Gobrick defended his porn collection by claiming he has “always been an 8-year-old girl,” the Post Millennial reports.
“I’ve always been an 8-year-old girl,’’ Gobrick claimed at the sentencing. “And even my drawings and fantasies, I am always an 8-year-old girl.’’

According to ABC 13, some of the images found on Gobrick’s computer “depicted children between the ages of infant and five years old being sexually assaulted, court records show.”
The 45-year-old was reportedly not remorseful for his actions, defended them, and continued to draw the images during the trial. As a result, Kent County Assistant Prosecutor Daniel Helmer called Gobrick “a danger to the public.’’
“Even during the trial, the defendant continued to draw, talking about raping babies in the Kent County Jail and making other statements about how this is his constitutional right to continue to do so,” Helmer added.
Kent County Circuit Court Judge Paul Denenfeld sentenced Gobrick to between 10 and 20 years in prison, ABC 13 reports.
“Based on everything he’s said and done, including bragging about what he was drawing in his cell, he obviously doesn’t think child sexually abusive material is wrong,’’ the judge said. “This isn’t just virtual stuff; this is also real people being harmed.’’
Here’s more from the report:
He argued the images found on his computer were created using an image manipulating program. He also said the images were protected under the First Amendment.
Denenfeld found him guilty on three counts of child sexually abusive commercial activity and using a computer to commit a crime.
Gobrick, a convicted sex offender from New York, was arrested in 2018 after a 17-year-old Ohio girl listed as endangered/missing was found at his Grand Rapids home.
During that investigation, the child pornography was found on his computer.Gobrick, who has a 2001 sexual abuse conviction out of New York, contends he is not sexually attracted to children.
