Trump Delays Mass ICE Deportations ‘At The Request Of Democrats’

President Trump is pulling the reins back on his massive immigration plan to have millions of migrants deported, he announced on Saturday.

The president previously announced: “Next week ICE will begin the process of removing the millions of illegal aliens who have illicitly found their way into the United States.”

“They will be removed as fast as they come in,” Trump continued in a pair of tweets. “Mexico, using their strong immigration laws, is doing a very good job of stopping people long before they get to our Southern Border. Guatemala is getting ready to sign a Safe-Third Agreement.”

He added: “The only ones who won’t do anything are the Democrats in Congress. They must vote to get rid of the loopholes, and fix asylum! If so, Border Crisis will end quickly!”

On Saturday, Trump doubled down: “The people that ICE will apprehend have already been ordered to be deported. This means that they have run from the law and run from the courts. These are people that are supposed to go back to their home country. They broke the law by coming into the country, & now by staying.”

“When people come into our Country illegally, they will be DEPORTED!” Trump also tweeted.

Several hours later, on Saturday, Trump took to Twitter in a series of tweets to correct some mainstream media reports on the situation with Iran.

Amid the tweets, the president said he would be delaying the massive immigration push “at the request of Democrats.”

“I have delayed the Illegal Immigration Removal Process (Deportation) for two weeks to see if the Democrats and Republicans can get together and work out a solution to the Asylum and Loophole problems at the Southern Border. If not, Deportations start!” Trump cautioned.

And, “I want to give the Democrats every last chance to quickly negotiate simple changes to Asylum and Loopholes. This will fix the Southern Border, together with the help that Mexico is now giving us. Probably won’t happen, but worth a try. Two weeks and big Deportation begins!”

As for why the deportations have been delayed, the Daily Wire reports there are two explanations:

Acting ICE Director Mark Morgan told Fox News’ Jeanine Pirro on Saturday that leaked “operational specifics” were published by the press, and as a result, the lives of agents could be endangered.

He added:

So, what the President did – he recognized that, and so he postponed, one, to protect them, but also to give Congress another chance on a bipartisan method to actually get together, pass this supplement, so that we can enforce the rule of law…

Additionally, CNN reports that Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) phoned the president on Friday, and asked him personally for the delay. This alleged phone call appears to be reflected in Trump’s tweet regarding the raids.

BizPac Review adds:

There’s also the possibility that the postponement is part of a greater strategy at play by Trump, who said he did so to give Democrats more time to reach a bipartisan deal on the immigration crisis at the southern border.

With Democrats getting the word out that the ICE raids were coming, the agency lost the element of surprise in pursuing illegal aliens who’ve ignored deportation orders, and with the liberal media engaged, any lack of success would take center stage in the quest to highlight how inept the administration is.

As word on the raids was leaked, Democrats across the country rallied around illegal aliens, aligning themselves with those who defy U.S. laws over ICE agents, going so far as to coach them on how to react if approached by the agency.
