President Trump is no fan of the final Mueller report, despite it vindicating him on collusion charges, he expressed in a rant on Twitter.
The president’s rant came after an eventful Thursday morning which included Attorney General William Barr holding a presser where he summarized Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s final report and the final report’s eventual public release.
“The Greatest Political Hoax of all time! Crimes were committed by Crooked, Dirty Cops and DNC/The Democrats,” Trump tweeted on Thursday morning before Barr’s press conference.
“PRESIDENTIAL HARASSMENT!” he added in another tweet.
After Trump retweeted several tweets from Judicial Watch, a government watchdog group that is looking into the Justice Department’s involvement with allegedly covering up the Hillary Clinton email investigation, the president reverted to tweeting about the Mueller report.
Barr held the presser alongside Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein where they explained Mueller’s final report found no evidence of collusion and no sufficient evidence on obstruction charges.
“After nearly two years of investigation, thousands of subpoenas, hundreds of warrants and witness interviews, the special counsel confirmed that the Russian government sponsored efforts to illegally interfere with the 2016 presidential election, but did not find that the Trump campaign or other Americans colluded in those schemes,” Barr said via USA Today. “So that is the bottom line.”
The Associated Press adds: “The special counsel did not find a criminal conspiracy between the Trump campaign and the Russian government to interfere in the 2016 presidential election. He did not recommend charging any Trump associates as agents of the Russian government or with campaign finance violations.”
Trump gleefully tweeted: “No Collusion – No Obstruction!”
Several hours later, well after the Mueller report was publicly released, Trump tweeted out various reactions from Fox News hosts Jesse Waters, Martha McCallum, and Tucker Carlson.
“Donald Trump was being framed, he fought back. That is not Obstruction,” Waters said according to the Trump tweet.
:I had the right to end the whole Witch Hunt if I wanted,” Trump contended in the tweet. “I could have fired everyone, including Mueller, if I wanted. I chose not to. I had the RIGHT to use Executive Privilege. I didn’t!”
Trump then quoted Carlson: “If dozens of Federal prosecutors spent two years trying to charge you with a crime, and found they couldn’t, it would mean there wasn’t any evidence you did it – and that’s what happened here – that’s what we just learned from the Mueller Report.”
“The Mueller Report is perhaps the single most humiliating thing that has ever happened to the White House Press in the history of this Country. They know they lied…Many reporters lied about Russia Collusion and so much more. Clapper & Brennan, all lies,” Trump added, again quoting Carlson.
Trump also swiped former President Obama in his series of tweets, claiming he was well aware of Russian hacking attempts during the 2016 presidential election and allowed them to continue.
“Anything the Russians did concerning the 2016 Election was done while Obama was President. He was told about it and did nothing! Most importantly, the vote was not affected,” Trump said.
The president echoed his line calling the Russian investigation and its allegations against him as a “hoax” something he said several people in mainstream media accurately predicted from the start.
Trump ramped up his criticism of the final report in a later pair of tweets where he referred to it as “total bulls–t.”
