President Trump criticized those who backed the Mueller investigation and those who have peddled allegations of Russian collusion to win the 2016 presidential campaign, during a campaign rally in Michigan on Thursday night.
The president said Attorney General William Barr’s summary of the final Mueller report was a “total exoneration” that exposed an “elaborate hoax” by a “group of major losers,” “crooked journalists,” and “the deep state,” the Washington Examiner reports.
Trump told the Michigan crowd that Democrats and others acted together in what he called “the single greatest hoax in the history of politics in our country.
“After three years of lies and smears and slander, the Russia hoax is finally dead. The collusion delusion is over,” Trump said during a rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
“Total exoneration, complete vindication. It’s interesting,” Trump said during the rally. “Robert Mueller was a god to the Democrats, was a god to them, until he said there was no collusion, and they don’t like him so much right now.”
House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff among others seemingly turned on Mueller after he concluded his investigation without personally interviewing the president and without indicting him on any charges, a Daily Wire op-ed reports.
“It was a mistake to rely on written responses by the president,” Schiff said, adding the interview should have been under oath. “That’s generally more what the lawyer has to say than what the individual has to say.”
“Special Counsel Robert Mueller was the darling of the liberal intelligentsia for the past two years, but as soon as he released his long-awaited report that ended up clearing President Trump of all charges that he colluded with Russia to sway the 2016 election, liberals turned on him,” the Daily Wire op-ed continued.
Here’s more, from the Daily Wire:
MSNBC host Chris Matthews, the guy who always got a thrill up his leg whenever he saw former president Barack Obama, also thought Mueller must be kinda dumb.
“Maybe he missed the boat here,” Matthews said of Mueller. “Why was there never an interrogation of this president? We were told for weeks by experts, ‘You cannot deal with an obstruction-of-justice charge or investigation without getting the motive.’ … How could they let Trump off the hook?”
Well, Chris, a few days ago you were singing the praises of the special counsel, now he’s “missing boats”?
During the Grand Rapids rally, Trump said the investigation did expose some collusion—by Democrats: “The crazy attempt by the Democrat Party and the fake news media right back there, and the deep state to overturn the results of the 2016 election have failed … This is nothing more than a sinister effort to undermine our historic election victory and to sabotage the will of the American people.”
“The Russia witch hunt was a plan by those who lost the election to try to illegally regain power by framing innocent Americans, many of them. They suffered with an elaborate hoax,” Trump added.
“Despite this terrible cloudy, this phony, corrupt, disgusting cloud, we have done more together in the first two years than any administration in the history of our country,” the president contended.
