Dems Silent On Minorities, The Disabled, And Protecting Life… Cheer For Themselves Though

President Trump’s State of the Union speech last night had several occasions where members of both parties would rise to their feet in applause.

Republican and Democratic members applauded the president at times, but some people took to social media and criticized the Democratic lawmakers for choosing to stand at some times but sit during others.

As Democrat lawmakers and president Trump often clash, BizPac Review reports it was unique to see Trump actually got Democrats to stand up and applaud something that he said:

President Donald Trump enjoyed a rare moment of bipartisan unity during his 2019 State of the Union address when he proudly noted that there are more women serving in Congress this year than at any time in history.

This drew raucous applause from the withholding Democrat women — who wore white in honor of the 100-year anniversary of women getting the right to vote. They even stood up, hooted and hollered, and chanted, “U-S-A! U-S-A!”

Imagine that: Getting anti-American leftists to be openly patriotic. Only Trump could do that.

It was one of the few times during President Trump’s epic SOTU address that he received bipartisan applause.

The Democrat lawmakers, however, remained mostly unmoved as the president spoke on historic unemployment levels for minorities and the disabled.

“The Democrat women showed how self-centered they are when they refused to applaud Trump’s declaration that we’re enjoying record-low unemployment for blacks, Hispanics, Asians, and the disabled under the booming Trump economy,” BizPac Review added.

Democrats standing for themselves but not for other issues was called out by many people.

Actor Kevin Sorbo called the members out for not standing and supporting Trump’s call to end late-term abortions.

Breitbart’s Alana Mastrangelo criticized the Democrat lawmakers for choosing to stand when they were recognized, but not for when Trump said he was arresting and seeking to eliminate sex trafficking in the US.

Here’s more:

Despite the stinginess of Democrats to stand up and support the president’s words, Republicans and Independents mostly enjoyed the speech’s contents, BizPac Review also reports.

And, a Washington Examiner op-ed wrote:

If Trump could only show this side of himself more often, he’d have a 57 percent approval rating today, instead of 57 percent disapproval. He has his own undisciplined messaging and Twitter habits to blame for his current political situation. But he also showed Tuesday night that he possesses the skills to change the game in his favor. If he can show the sort of restraint and discipline that made his State of the Union speech great, he will drastically advance his cause as he seeks re-election over the next two years.

Democrats made much of Trump’s work easy. In the last two weeks, they have overtly embraced an objectively horrific position on abortion-until-birth that only 13 percent of the public agrees with. Their party has also been lurching toward socialism at a very inopportune time, even as that failed ideology has brought the nearby nation of Venezuela to its knees. New Democrats in Congress ( two of them in particular) have also embraced and propagated anti-Semitic conspiracy theories, a point that Trump was quick to bring up as well.

Trump connected all of these dots with ease as he made his case to the public. It might have been the best speech of his presidency so far.
