Love This: Gary Sinise Announces New Program For Children Of Our Fallen Military Heroes

American actor, director and musician Gary Sinise has repeatedly stepped up to help countless military families and families of law enforcement officials through the Gary Sinise Foundation.

Their mission statement reads, “At the Gary Sinise Foundation, we serve our nation by honoring our defenders, veterans, first responders, their families, and those in need. We do this by creating and supporting unique programs designed to entertain, educate, inspire, strengthen, and build communities.”

Recently, the Foundation announced the launch of a new initiative set to help children who lost their parents in military conflicts around the world.

“Our newest program, Snowball Express, serves the children of our fallen military heroes, surviving spouses, and Gold Star families,” Sinise wrote over social media. “An important aspect of this program is its annual 4-day experience in December, where we bring families together from all around the nation.”

“I am thrilled and honored to announce that this coming December we will be bringing the children of our fallen military heroes to the happiest place on Earth, Walt Disney World® Resort in Florida,” he added.

And, “Our Gold Star families will participate in fun activities and entertainment to keep spirits high and the Gary Sinise Foundation’s Snowball Express program will continue to provide emotional healing for these deserving children during the Holiday season.”

Here’s more on the program, via the Gary Sinise Foundation:

For the past nine years, the city of Dallas & entire Dallas Fort Worth MetroPlex have graciously welcomed thousands of Gold Star families to participate in fun activities and entertainment to keep spirits high and provide emotional healing. But this year, we are excited to announce our four-day experience will be relocated to the happiest place on earth…

We are thrilled and honored to bring the children of our fallen military heroes to Walt Disney World® Resort in Florida this December. These families will have an opportunity to bond with the only people who can truly understand their loss: one another.

By building a strong community, these children and surviving spouses form friendships that can last a lifetime. And this year, we’re bringing the program’s many wonderful traditions along to Disney with a few new friends and surprises!

This annual experience serves as a reminder that our country will never forget our fallen heroes and the thousands of military families left behind.

As the video below explains, the idea for the trip to Disney World began from a letter sent by a soldier to his wife. In the letter, the soldier reminded his wife of the promise they made to their children to take them to the wonder world.

“I’ll do anything for these kids,” Sinise said of the program. “Anything for Gold Star families so that they know we’ll never forget them.
