39 percent of voters reportedly prefer a Republican candidate, compared to 38 percent of voters who prefer a Democrat.

The Morning Consult-Politico poll also found that Trump’s approval rating is 47 percent overall.

The shock poll follows a warning from Democratic SuperPAC Priorities USA that Democratic focus on day to day news involving the Trump administration is winnowing advantages in the polls.

“In the last few weeks, Democrats turned their attention to other issues while Trump has continued to promote his economic policies, and Trump’s numbers have incrementally improved as a result,” the group said in a stark warning.

Both RealClearPolitics and FiveThirtyEight polling averages observe a nearly 4-5 percent increase in approval rating for the president from a nadir of 37 percent to approximately $41.
